If you regularly travel Poland Spring Road, Route 122 in Auburn, you're going to want to know about what is happening there starting April 15.

The City of Auburn announced on its Facebook page that construction on the bridge carrying Route 122 over the Maine Turnpike in Auburn was going to begin on April 15, and it would have to be completely closed until seven months later on November 15.

That sounds like a long time, and it is. However, CPM Constructors of Freeport will be completely replacing the bridge, so in the grand scheme of things, seven months is pretty good.

As you can see in this Google Maps photo, the bridge does look like it's ready to be replaced.

If this is a route you travel often, you'll be detoured onto Kittyhawk Avenue, and will still be able to get onto side roads and residences without any issues while the bridge is closed.

This Google map shows what will be the likely route to get around the closure of the bridge from either side.

The good news is that it's only three minutes out of your way, which isn't too bad at all. It will probably take a little time for people to get used to the detour, but once they do, traffic should still flow pretty smoothly while CPM Constructors do the work to rebuild the bridge.

It's also likely that there will be a work zone established on the Maine Turnpike for worker safety as well, so make sure to slow down if you're driving past.
