This is a new one for me. Have you ever heard of a "silent disco?" I can't be the only one who has never heard of it, but it's a thing, and Craft Brew Underground in Auburn is putting one on.

So what's a silent disco? There are a few variations, but they all include everyone wearing headphones and dancing with everyone listening to the same music, or in the case of Craft Brew Underground's silent disco, listening to your own music.

Sunday Today did a story on silent discos a few years back, and they explain it much better than I can here, because I still am not sure I understand it.

I have difficulty figuring out what all the rage is, but I was around when discos were still around and wireless headphones weren't a thing. If you like to dance to the beat of your own music, here's your chance to do it in public.

If a silent disco sounds fun to you, mark down January 19 from 8 to 11 p.m. at Craft Brew Underground's Great Falls Comedy Club in your calendar. Then remember to bring it that night, along with a pair of Bluetooth headphones and your own music playlist. If you'd rather have one supplied for you, they'll have a few playlists on Spotify and Apple Music to choose from.

The best part is it's absolutely free! They have the dance floor and the lights, and you have the music. However, anyone there not dancing might feel like they're in a library, because it will be so quiet.
