Bug Light is one of my favorite spots in Maine because it offers so much more than just beautiful ocean views. Anything from car shows, to public events, this park is a fun place to be in the summertime.

Did you know they're also home to hosting outdoor movie events... for FREE?

The South Portland-Cape Elizabeth Chamber of Commerce came together with Bug Light Park to host the outdoor viewing event for all ages that was supposed to start Tuesday, July 18.

However, the July 18 movie was canceled due to the rain; shocker.

It's called "The Summer Movie Nights In The Park," and so far here's the showing schedule:

July 25: "Minions: The Rise of Gru" (rescheduled from July 18)
Aug 1: "Sing 2"

Movies are set to begin around sunset (usually 8 p.m.), and it's recommended that you arrive a little bit earlier for parking reasons.

It's just like going to the fireworks or claiming your lounge chairs at the pool on vacation by setting your towel up ahead of time before you go grab a drink.

You're gonna wanna head in earlier than 8 p.m. to claim your blanket spot for the show and walk around to the food trucks that will also be hanging out there for you.

Have you ever heard "If it's free, it's for me"? Let me remind you this entire event is free, so if you've been looking for something different to do with the family, this is a great inexpensive way to spend the night.

(Don't worry, no registration is required either, just go have fun!)

Just note that Bug Light is the location of the first movie, and the second movie is at Redbank Pavilion.
