Sunday River

Skimo or Rando racing is when you go both UP the mountain and DOWN the mountain...in a hurry! The race is open to everyone!

Last year by this time Sunday River was open to the public thanks to colder than usual temperatures and the incredible snow makers of the mountain. In fact,  the snowmaking team from Sunday River was named the best in North America by Ski Area Management magazine in the HKD I Am A Snowmaker contest...

The North American Wife Carrying Championship takes place at Sunday River right here in Maine every fall. Teams made up of men and women have to make their way through an obstacle course. The wife can be carried any way the team prefers, most teams use the  "Estonian carry" in  which the wife holds the husband by the waist, with her legs wrapped around his neck...

I'll be up at Sunday River hosting some of the events for their Spring Festival! Oh, and I'll be judging the 'Margarita Mix-Off' and the 'Eat the Heat Chili Cook-Off'. Come up to Sunday River and have fun this weekend!

The 31st Annual Maine Adaptive Ski-A-Thon was this past weekend. I was involved again for the 10th year (I think). What an incredible weekend!

Maine Adaptive Sports & Recreation (Maine Adaptive) is having their 31st annual Ski-A-Thon!  This annual fundraiser traditionally brings in over 60% of their budget. I will be there hosting the event and hope you can get a team together!

Oh my. I have never witnessed an eating contest in person before. And now I know why! It was insane!! The looks on peoples faces says it all! There was a winner crowned!

For the past few years, I have been lucky enough to be a judge at the Eat the Heat Chili Cookoff. I'll be there again for their 25th year! Would love to see you on Sunday March 22nd for the 25th annual Eat the Heat Chili Cookoff & Firefighters' Race.

Well you don't see this everyday. 250 people dressed as Santa Claus skiing and snowboarding down the slopes of Sunday River.

After last week's snow storm and all of the snow making at Sunday River and Sugarloaf, Maine's 2014-2015 ski and snowboard season is officially way under way!
