Westbrook High School Girl’s Soccer Celebrates First Win in Five Years

Westbrook High School girl's soccer truly has something to celebrate.

After a tough five years, they finally got the win they've been looking for.

It was so exciting to see and hear. Even if you don't play any sports, you know the agony of defeat. Is anyone watching the Patriots this year? The thing is that winning six Super Bowl titles makes you, well, spoiled. The reason this win was so sweet is that it had been so long. These girls work so hard.

By the way, they beat Massabesic 4-2.

This is the Westbrook High School girl's soccer team's first win since September 14, 2018. That is over five years ago! They snapped a 55-game winless streak on Monday, October 16, 2023!

Fun fact: the game they won on September 14, 2018, was against Massabesic 4-3!

Winning is fun, and to truly appreciate wins, well, ya gotta lose a few, too. That's why I love Maine weather. No one appreciates summer weather as much as Mainers do. Why? Because our winters are long and miserable. That's why this win means so much to these girls. It feels so nice!
