You know how you can instantly spot a tourist from "away" just by the things they say or the questions they ask?

Maine is such a prominent state when it comes to our traditions and sayings so if you're ever wondering if somebody you meet isn't from here, just keep a look out for these top 3 rookie mistakes.

How can you tell if somebody isn't from Maine?

First of all, they will have zero idea what "from away" is when you ask them if they're from here.

Every Mainer knows what that means and it's a silent club we all belong to. Here's 3 more things that'll make you spot an out of towner immediately, especially in the winter time.

1. They drive a sports car. This one always cracks me up because I won't even have to look at the out of state license plate to know they're not from here if I look up and casually see a Ferrari cruising through the old port.

Mainer's would never invest in a sports car for the winter time, we use our heads.

2. They'll cancel plans because of an inch or two of snow. Look, Mainers literally don't even bat an eye at the forecast. They'll drive their ass to work in a blizzard drinking a moxie on the way in..savage.

We know it constantly changes and snow is just another part of our day. It might sound depressing but we're not I promise. Summertime in Maine is worth the winter months we deal with.

Best winter boot in Maine

3. You wear any type of shoe other than a boot. Just because we live in Maine doesn't mean we don't love fashion too.

However, in this state once the winter hits, not one soul here gives a second thought to fashion. We're wearing some form of over priced L.L. Bean boot and whatever parka we can find because DAMN does it get cold here. Mind your business about my outfit, I love my beans they're the best winter boot up here.
