Why dine in a conventional four-walled building when you can eat your meal floating on the water, in an old bank, or a former 1920's automotive garage? These Maine restaurants take dining to the next level with their unconventional buildings.

DiMillo's on the Water

Famous Floating Restaurant on Portland Waterfront

The atmosphere is unique being a floating restaurant. You actually feel the boat sway when wakes from large boats pass by. The view of the harbor, piers, condos and docked yachts is hard to beat.

Tugboat Inn

Old Tugboat in Boothbay Harbor

The restaurant is inside the "tugboat" and we loved the wood panels and the way it has been converted.

Sonny's Restaurant and Bar

Old Portland National Bank in Old Port

The longer you stay, more and more interesting details pop out from the decor, whether it's the beautiful stained glass, the open second story walk in vault, or the beautiful wallpaper and comfy sofas.

Le Garage is an old 1920's era auto garage on the Wiscasset waterfront that has been transformed into a great place to meet and eat. The dining rooms in the old portion are inviting and quaint and the view from the water side enclosed porch is wonderful, especially at sunset.
