8 Amazing Taco Places in Maine – Yes, Maine.
Maine is not the state you think of when you think tacos. Well...you should. Here are 8 places that will make you a huge taco fan!
In no particular order, here are 8 places that I can personally vouch for! Superb friggin' tacos!
EL CAMINO CANTINA
This funky place off the beaten path in Brunswick is full of atmosphere and amazing soft tacos! And yes, they know how to make a margarita too!
HELLA GOOD TACOS AT STEVE AND RENEE'S DINER
I was a fan of Steve and Renee's in Portland before, but since this taco cart owner took over, I couldn't be happier. These tacos are fantastic with chorizo a favorite filling for me. They are cheap,m good and so glad they are on the menu.
TACO ESCOBARR
Of all the places I have listed, I have NOT tried Taco Escobarr. I've included it because of everyone RAVING about the puffy shelled tacos. Deep fried tortillas filled with your choice of 9 fillings including my favorite chorizo, butternut squash and even lengua (that's beef tongue by the way). The are on Congress Street in downtown Portland.
JIMMY THE GREEKS IN OOB
Yup, that Greek knows how to do tacos. They are called 'street tacos' and who knows what street, but they are great. Go on Tuesdays and do the 2 dollar tacos...on Tuesday. Blackened chicken, fried avocado, battered fish and pulled pork are among the favorites.
EL CORAZON
This food truck, normally parked on Spring and Temple Streets in Portland, is one of my favorite trucks. Those tacos are finger licking good! I have a hard time ordering anything different than their fish taco, because they are just that good! Sometimes these guys move around. Go find them...it's worth it!
EL RAYO TAQUERIA
I gotta give it to these guys. I think they started the whole 'Maine has good tacos' trend. Their place in Portland is always packed, so thank God they expanded and are now in Scarborough too! I too love their fish tacos with spiced grilled fish, avocado, chipotle mayo and slaw. I always get those and I'm not alone.
TACO TRIO
This little whole in the wall in South Portland quickly became popular simply by word of mouth. Or taco by mouth. It's in the Knighville neighborhood in South Portland and has gotten so popular they now have a Westbrook location too! It's one of the most recommended taco places and if you are feeling up for it, try the barbacoa de cabra taco. By the way, that's goat...and it's delicious! I know, right!
There are more, so who did I leave off the list?
