Seabrook, New Hampshire, Ames Has Been Abandoned for Over 20 Years
For over 20 years, the Ames in Seabrook, New Hampshire, has been abandoned as life goes on all around it.
There's not a whole lot about why this Ames has been abandoned. The company filed for bankruptcy back in 2002, and that's when this location and all others closed. But for most of the locations, it has been replaced by something. But not in Seabrook, New Hampshire. And it's sad and spooky.

In 2020, a YouTuber took a video of the closed Ames
YouTuber Manny Quacioua, in 2020, thanks to a request, went and explored the abandoned Ames. He found that the lights were on inside the building! That was after 18 years. The picture above is from 22 years of being closed. The last thing I bought at Ames was the soundtrack to Me, Myself and Irene. Don't judge, it was 25 years ago!
It's rare to find an abandoned business with the exterior still saying the business name. There is another Ames that has been empty for years, also in Dover, New Hampshire. Many believe that the timing of the bankruptcy and the real estate market hitting rock bottom in 2008 contributed to the buildings never flourishing. But all around is doing okay. Next the the Seabrook, NH abandoned Ames is a Market Basket. Next the the one in Dover, New Hampshire, you'll find Hannaford.
The Ames in Dover, NH, also remains empty
It's sad to see the place where you and your parents would do Christmas shopping just sitting there empty. I could find nothing in my limited research about any prospective buyer or business moving in.
