These 8 Maine Restaurants Closed for Good in February 2025

Two months into 2025, and more restaurants closed in Maine.

Rising costs, staffing issues, retirements, and change-of-life decisions were once again some of the reasons for these businesses calling it quits.

Here's a look at the latest eateries that have said goodbye to the Pine Tree State.

Maine Restaurants Closed in February 2025

Among the number of restaurants that closed in Maine in February were two longstanding staples of their respective areas.

In Portland, Anthony's Italian Kitchen, which had been around for over 30 years announced its closure on Facebook. Anthony himself was planning on retiring.

The family-run restaurant served up Italian sandwiches, homemade meatballs, and pizza for about three decades.

At one point when things were dire during the pandemic, it even received money from Dave Portnoy's Barstool Fund to keep the place going.

Anthony's Italian Kitchen's last day was February 7.

In Rumford, a landmark restaurant that had been around for 137 years announced its closure.

Hotel Rumford shared the news on Facebook, marking the end of an era for the longtime establishment.

The Facebook post was an outpouring of gratitude toward the customers and staff over the years:

"We are incredibly lucky to have built this community together, one filled with love, support, and friendship. While we may be parting ways with this physical space, the memories we’ve created together will live on in our hearts forever.

Thank you for being a part of our journey. Here’s to new beginnings, cherished memories, and holding onto the love we’ve shared. Cheers to the future!"

Hotel Rumford's last day was February 15.
