You can't help but be sad for yourself and happy for Lisa Kostopoulos and her family.

Was the Good Table Restaurant in Cape Elizabeth loved? Does a bear...never mind. Yes. Very much. For 37 years, Lisa Kostopoulos (one of three owners) made everyone that came to eat feel like family. And a little bit Greek too.

The Greeks love language is food, and Lisa loved everyone very much. But 37 years is a long time and the family has earned time to rest and reflect. They sold to an unnamed buyer, but it's the first people that came and saw the restaurant when it went for sale. We know it's someone local and deemed a good chef by Lisa herself on their Facebook page.

It was a decision we have tossed back and forth for many years, one of us or two or all three of us would balk and say, 'No, not time. Well, we finally got three cherries in a row, we collectively decided it was time We are currently under contract with the first people that saw the restaurant, local people, and a fine chef indeed. We aren’t able to tell more details yet. But we plan to be here through strawberry season and into blueberry season, but alas, we’ll be gone before apple season.

Since they will be open a tad longer, do yourself a favor and get there for their infamous oversized cinnamon buns! You need this in your life. If you have a gift certificate, they recommend you use it quickly and they will not be issuing more.

I feel lucky to have been one of thousands of customers over the past 37 years. They will be saying goodbye slowly over the next few months. But I'm encouraged about the future of the restaurant. If they got the seal of approval from Lisa and the gang, well - that's good enough for me.
