The writing had to be on the wall for this one. Allagash Brewing, one of the pioneers in Portland for the craft beer movement will shift its policy on free samples when visiting their brewery because, as odd as it sounds, the brewery is getting too popular.

According to the Portland Press Herald, Allagash founder Rob Tod announced the removal of the free samples in a blog post on Wednesday. His explanation is simple, Allagash has seen an increase in visitors to their brewery by the tens of thousands over the past few years and it doesn't make any fiscal sense to give away so much of their product for free.

All is not lost of beer lovers though. While Allagash will start charging for samples, it'll still be cheaper for a flight than most. A tasting flight at the brewery will cost just $4. They will also still offer free samples as part of a tour through the entire brewery.
