Back at it again trying to justify some my favorite restaurants closing their doors by remaining optimistic about it, right? Eh, not in this case.

I've been able to accept some of the local shops that left that I never thought would, but these 3 places I'm still angry about.

The Maine Bagel

I probably still talk about this place at least once a week. Yes, I understand that's a me problem because it's been closed since 2024, but losing a NY style bagel shop was worthy of tears.

Just look at these circular pieces of beauty:

The best part about The Maine Bagel? Well, besides serving the absolute goat of the bagel industry, they had a drive-thru. T

he only drive-thru, locally baked, bagel station and I'm so ill it's gone forever.

Amore on the Marsh Cobblestone Grille

A little smelly on the outside due to the Scarborough Marsh that it was built near, but this was one of those places that my friends and I used as a go-to.

We'd take our pups to Higgins Beach or on the marsh trails like the family above and always hit this spot on the way home.

Now Anjon's, another household Italian restaurant that took a brief hiatus has re-opened in its' place and has been open for business since October, 2024. Here's their menu.

Garofalo's Restaurant

Another insanely good Italian place gone too soon from Scarborough. The pizza these dudes produced was chef's kiss. RIP Garofalo's.

Can you think of any more closures in Scarborough that should be on this list? Write them in the comment section and we can do a continued list like this one in memory of them.

In the meantime, check out some of the best restaurants in Maine that are still open for business below.
