Limited supply to celebrate the 20th anniversary of bottles and cans!

I still scratch my head when I think of raising money for breast cancer here in Maine for 20 years. It started with an idea to focus on spreading the message of having women remember to get their mammograms and do self-breast exams. Our first fundraiser only raised about 700 dollars. Our focus was on the message and what a message it was. We strung hundreds of bras together and then walked them across the Casco Bay Bridge for 'Bras Across the Bridge' in 2002. Here's a video from News Center Maine - forgive the audio. It's completely messed up. Oh and this is before drones, so that's helicopter footage and the end!

We've come a long way. We decided over the years to make this annual fundraiser something that everyone could participate in. That's how Cans for a Cure was born some 15 years ago. Our very first Cans for a Cure raised about $10,000 and we sorted each can by hand. Clynk hadn't been born yet. Our biggest year was right before the pandemic in 2019, when we raised over $117,000! In total over the past 20 years, we've raised over half a million dollars to help Mainers fight breast cancer. This year you have a chance to grab a piece of history with our limited-edition 20th-anniversary Cans for a Cure t-shirt and/or hoodie! The t-shirt is $20, the hoodie is $50 but if you buy both they're only $60! All that money stays right here in Maine to help those fighting breast cancer!

Of course, we'd love to see you if you come to the Maine Mall starting Wednesday, October 12 through Friday, October 14 around 10 am. But if you just want to support the cause and not touch any bottles or cans - this shirt and/or hoodie is a great option. Bottles and cans can get a tad messy...
