Two Classic Christmas Movies Are Playing This Weekend at Prides Corner Drive-In
I don't go crazy about Christmas before we've made it to Thanksgiving. I don't go crazy about Christmas even a week away, but that's me and I know I'm not the norm. However, if you are already thinking about hanging your stocking by the chimney with care and blasting Mariah Carey's All I Want For Christmas is You on repeat, you won't want to miss this.
Pride's Corner Drive-In
Prides Corner Drive-In is one of Maine's few drive-in theaters that are still in operation today. It opened on May 14, 1953, with Gary Cooper in “Springfield Rifle” & Bud Abbott & Lou Costello in “Abbott & Costello Meet Captain Kidd”. More than 70 years later it's still showing movies all the way into November.
Pride's Corner often shows classic movies. Just a few weeks ago there was a double feature of The Wizard of Oz and War of the Worlds. This weekend, November 15 and 16, they're showing two classic Christmas movies that everyone loves.
"SANTA!!!!!! I know him!"
It's hard to believe that Elf was released in theaters back in 2003. 21 years ago! You don't need me to tell you the plot of Elf. Both Will Ferrell who played the human raised by Santa's elves, Buddy Hobbs, and the late, great Ed Asner who played Santa Claus.
Christmas Vacation
In 1989, the third National Lampoon Vacation movie was released in theaters and quickly became a smash hit. I love this movie as well as the previous two movies, but Vegas Vacation and Vacation with Ed Helms were terrible. I never get tired of Clark's rant when instead of a bonus, he got a membership to the Jelly of the Month club, which is a real thing.
Prides Corner's gates open by 6:00 PM. Cash only for admission and food.
$20 per car for up to two people, $30 a car for three to five people, and $5 for each additional person beyond five.
