Portland has so many buildings that have been here for more than 100 years. One of those is the First Parish that has stood at the intersection of Congress and Temple streets since 1825 as the city around it has changed dramatically.

Here's a shot of the church as viewed from Temple and Federal streets I took, just outside our studios here at One City Center.

And here's what the same shot looked like in about 1900 as shared on the Portland Maine History 1786 to Present Facebook page.

Every building you see above is gone, yet the church remains look just as it did over 100 years ago.

The church has been renovated several times over the years, including a reconstruction of the church steeple and clock tower in 2012 to restore it to how it originally looked before a 1977 renovation.

Lucky for us, this amazing piece of architecture and Portland's history is on the National Register of Historic Places so odds are it will still be here for generations to come. I wonder what it will look like here in 2116.
