The Magical History Tour is the Perfect Adventure for Portland History Fans
Do you love local history? Do you love uncovering hidden secrets of the past that are otherwise closed to the public? The Maine Historical Society's Magical History Tour is this weekend and it's the perfect way to spend your Saturday.
Taking place Saturday, May 21 from 10am-4pm, the Magical History Tour is a self-guided exploration of historical places in Portland that are not usually open to the public, with access granted to 11 little-known gems downtown and beyond that many have never seen, and maybe didn’t even know exist. Equipped with a map, and at their own pace, participants are greeted by docents at each site ready to share the history of the location and answer questions.
You can get started on your exciting historical excursion early by attending Mr. Longfellow's Cocktail Party on Friday night. You'll party at the beautiful and historic U.S. Custom House at 312 Fore Street, Portland. Located adjacent to Portland's waterfront, this historically rich and mysterious building is closed to the public... but not for cocktail party guests!
