This morning (April 21) a vehicle crashed into the Rite Aid on Main St. in Damariscotta. The accident happened around 10:15 am and caused extensive damage to the building and the car. No one was injured.

According to the Lincoln County News, Damariscotta police say Janet K. Wynne, 77, pulled into a parking space on the side of Rite Aid and applied her brakes, but her "brakes went right through the floor and she went up onto the pillar and into the wall." Her airbag did not deploy.

Damariscotta and Newcastle firefighters aided in the clean up at the scene and police do not suspect alcohol or speed as factors in the accident.
