Look out Rock Row in Westbrook - the Downs is becoming the place to be.

First and foremost Allagash wants you to know that they are not moving any part of their Portland brewery into Scarborough. This is a whole new deal.

The founder of Allagash, Rob Tod, said in a press release,

Portland has been and will always be our home. It’s where we brew all of the beer that made us what we are today, where we employ a team of over 140 people, and that's not changing. Our core goal at Allagash has been to give people new experiences and create community through beer, and this future space in Scarborough will achieve that and so much more.

Don't head down to The Downs yet, this isn't slated to be done until 2024. So that means that the current tasting room area in Portland at Allagash will stay open until the new one is complete. The new tasting room will be bigger and more comfortable, opening up space in Portland on Industrial Way to brew more beer.

The Downs is turning into the 'it' place to be. The managing partner Petre Michaud said of Allagash coming to The Downs,

Allagash’s presence will solidify The Downs as one of the best in Maine to live, work, and play.

Southern Maine is cranking. Westbrook just broke ground for the four-story, 70,000 sq. ft. building that will become Vertical Harvest. Rock Row is still growing in Westbrook and now Scarborough with a Costco and Allagash tasting room at The Downs. Exciting stuff in Maine.
