3 Reasons Why Maine’s Fryeburg Fair Trumps All Other Fairs
It's the best time of year again, fair season. As I'm coming down from the high that broadcasting Q97.9's Krissy in the Morning from the Fryeburg Fairgrounds brings, I'm reminded once again why this fair wins every year. There's something about the magic in the air on a fall weekend day that only this fairground brings and I'm gonna take my best shot at figuring out why. Besides the obvious fact, that yes, the Fryeburg Fair is the largest agricultural fair in Maine, fryeburgfair.com has the real info. Check these facts out.
1. The Fryeburg Fair sits on 180 acres and has over 100 buildings scattered throughout the entire area. As mentioned earlier, this makes the Fryeburg Fair the state's largest agricultural fair. You never seem to run out of area to cover unlike many other fairs in the state that you could cover their entire ground in less than an hour.
2. Their livestock is next to none. I'm on the sensitive side when it comes to animals, and I always feel a sense of relief when I visit the pigs, or the sheep, or my favorite- the llamas. They always seem to look very healthy and happy, so naturally that makes this fair elite.
3. The real intense fair go-ers camp out in motor homes across the street from the fairground and almost tailgate the entire week. They set up cool Halloween decorations for the kids, and the atmosphere overall is unmatched. I think this kind of gives the overall aesthetic an extra boost, it's different! Even Santa rides around every so often to make sure you're staying on the nice list, look:
