This is very tongue-in-cheek, so first and foremost, rest-assured, this isn't highlighting any actual incident in New Hampshire that may have started as a genius idea and gone horribly wrong. Although, in the time it took to type that sentence, a TikTok trend probably turned that statement into one huge lie.

No, this is a reflection of a personal decision made over the weekend that, while it came with its positives, was ridiculously regrettable in the most first world problems of ways. So, if you're looking for actual news, go to an actual news source because this is very much not news.

If you're looking for entertainment, though -- sit back, relax, keep scrolling and feel free to laugh at me. But, there's also probably a little lesson mixed in between the major factors that I'm basically an idiot.

Because of a lot of family and work events in the area recently, I've spent more time lately at my mother's house than my own, just for quicker travel time and ease. It also doesn't hurt that she's one of my best friends.

And considering I basically lost two years with her when I moved out to Oklahoma for a bit, any chance I get to spend time with her is a win. To the point that even though I decided to participate in Sober October last month, if she was having a glass of wine, I'd have one with her.

Because sometimes you just have to say "screw it" and have a glass of wine with your mom, because in every day life, you just never know.

Anyway, after running around areas of New Hampshire for the better part of Saturday, we got home and decided to crack open a bottle of pre-made espresso martini I snagged the day before. And it seemed like a genius idea -- on the go all day, crush a bunch of errands, relax and unwind with a well-deserved cocktail.

Except that the genius idea was actually one of the most horrible I've ever had, considering by the time we got in and got settled, it was later on at night and the word "espresso" was in the type of martini I poured. And, like a couple of rookies, we indulged in a couple.

What followed was a night of staring at the ceiling, wide-awake in our respective bedrooms, hearing each other moving around the house while the other screamed out, "Espresso martinis at 8-o'clock, what a stupid idea! Never again!"

But also, at the same time (that time being 5am when we both finally got sick of staring at our respective ceilings and decided to get out of our beds and go into the living room), our horrible decision served as the content for hilarious one-liners about ourselves for the morning.

Which, in turn, undoubtedly will be a memory that can be reflected on and laughed about for years. So, maybe that genius idea never actually went horribly wrong, now that I think about it...
