Have You Tried the New Limited Edition Flavor Potato Chips from Utz?
I rounded the corner at the Forest Avenue Hannaford yesterday afternoon and I found an interesting new addition to the end cap of the chip aisle.
Utz has released a line of limited edition flavors for the summer. The Grillin' Classics Potato Chips includes cheeseburger, grilled hot dog, and sweet corn. Also in their lineup of special flavors is the Utz Kettle Classics Lobster Chips. This is the bag of chips I saw staring me down at the end of the aisle.
How can a chip taste like lobster? I investigated the ingredients on the back of the bag. In big bold letters it says "Contains no real lobster." So how do we get the lobster flavor?
We sampled the chips this morning. There were a few incorrect guesses from those trying the flavor blind. Cheese? Taco? Nope. When I revealed the flavor everyone was shocked. There is a slight lobster seafood-y aftertaste. It's not overwhelming and it's not immediately obvious. But they're pretty good!
According to the product description on Target.com:
