Sometimes I think Facebook knows way too much about me. I was scrolling the other day, not looking for anything in particular, when I saw a friend of mine's post about having dinner at Bay Haven Lobster Pound and Restaurant in Cornish, Maine. I love seafood, especially fried scallops, but the seafood platter he had looked amazing.

What a lot of people tend to forget is you can get some great seafood without having to be at one of Maine's many restaurants along the coast. There are plenty of great seafood restaurants throughout the entire state that are often overlooked.

Bay Haven Seafood Restaurant on Maple Street in Cornish, Maine, has a fisherman's platter that one person describes on the restaurant's websites as "humungous."

My friend Jim, who got me to notice this place with his Facebook post, said:

We may not live in the big city, but we have one of the best seafood places in the state just a few miles away! Take my word for it and stop by next time you're in the area. Trust me, you won't regret it! They'll bring you more haddock, shrimp, clams, and scallops than you'll be able to eat.

Not only do people rave about the fisherman's platter, but they also love how it's served, with fries on a separate plate and not buried under the seafood:

We travel an hour and 15 minutes to get the best fried seafood ever. The fisherman's platter is huge, no french fries underneath all the seafood, they serve the fries on a separate plate, we have enough to eat there plus we take home some, and we have another meal at home. We live around a lot of seafood restaurants on the coast but they can't compare to Bay Havens fish. We love Bay Haven and we are planning on going up again tomorrow.

It was great! More than you can eat. Really believed I could finish it, Nope! Everybody at the table enjoyed their orders. Service was very friendly!

This place is definitely on my list of places to try this summer.
