Who the hell is Dave Portnoy?

You probably know him as the owner of Barstool Sports, which he has owned since creating it in 2003 (there were some changing of hands and money, but he owns it again). Barstool Sports is, in essence, an unapologetic brash bro-centric blog about sports. But as politically incorrect as he proudly is, this SOB has also done some amazing things.

The Barstool Fund has helped multiple businesses in New England.

Dave was frustrated with the government pandemic shutdowns and how it was killing small local businesses. He started the Barstool Fund, an effort through Barstool Sports to raise money for small businesses in need. Damn it. That's super awesome. He has helped over 440 businesses, including places in Maine and New Hampshire.

And then, he had to go and do pizza reviews.

Dave Portnoy's One Bite Pizza Reviews

This is where Dave and I have an issue. He started his One Bite Pizza Reviews back in 2017 to review every pizza place in New York City. But then he started to branch out. Then he came to Maine and reviewed:

• Monte's
• Pizzaiolo
• Flatbread
• Belleville
• Slab
• Otto

He gave Monte's a ranking so high that it's now in his top 100. Duh, Dave. I already know that, and now EVERYONE knows that.

Friggin' Dave Portnoy Let Everyone Know About Maine's Best Pizza!

You son of a b&*#@! You can't even get Monte's Pizza right now! I'm not kidding. They are SOLD OUT! You have to call as soon as they open and hope you can get a pizza later in the day.

Then he invaded Pizzaiolo! Another one of my go-to pizza places!

I've been going to Pizzaiolo for years, and when I recently stopped by, I HAD NEVER SEEN SO MANY PEOPLE WORKING THERE! I turned to a couple sitting and they said,

After my son told me they got a good review with Dave Portnoy, I had to come from Old Orchard Beach to try it.

Noooooo! Dave went here, too!? I had no idea.

I couldn't be happier for these Maine businesses, to be honest. This is purely selfish, and I want Dave to forget about Maine pizza. I wanted Monte's the other night, and couldn't. I JUST barely made it into Pizzaiolo. That man and his pizza reviews are giving some Maine pizza places some well-deserved loving. I need to eat more salads, anyway...
