I never met Mckenna Unobskey. But I can feel her essence when I look at pictures of her. Does that sound weird? I don't care if it does.

Mckenna was robbed of her life on December 10 at the age of 27. She was supposed to get married. She had more mountains to climb, animals to cuddle, places to see, and friends to make. Mckenna didn't deserve to die.

There is a lot of tragedy in the world and all of the sad stories on the news can sometimes be too much to bear. But this story really hit home for me.

According to NewsCenterMaine, Mckenna was crossing Main street in Bar Harbor around 5:45 am on December 10. She was in the crosswalk when she was struck by a vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.

As I read this story the memories of my husband being hit by a car came flooding back. I am so grateful that he is still here with me. I can't relate to what McKenna's fiance, family, and friends are going through right now. She was ripped from their lives and they will never be the same.

Negligent driving is a really big deal. It costs people their lives and needs to stop. I don't know what the solution is other than sharing stories like these in hopes that people will pay better attention and not get behind the wheel when they shouldn't.

My heart and deepest sympathies go out to all who knew and loved Mckenna. Her life mattered and will never be forgotten.
