Portland's Old Port is scattered with an incredible selection of bars that offer craft beer, craft cocktails and almost anything in between. And when choosing which place you'll spend some of your evening in, it's probably going to come down to menu and atmosphere. Most people rarely think of the bathroom but when the bar you're at has a nice one, that just adds to its appeal.

So we put it out there during a small survey, and here is what some Portland locals came back with as the best bathrooms in bars in the Old Port.

note: Most, if not all, of the bars noted state their bathrooms are for CUSTOMERS ONLY.

MJ's Wine Bar

MJ's is a cozy place, which makes their home-like bathroom a perfect compliment to your glass of wine. And as you'd suspect, a wine bar in Portland would naturally have cotton balls, cotton swabs and packs of matches in the bathroom for all of your throwback bathroom needs. Now sip your wine and relax.

The North Point

The North Point is another of Portland's very cozy bars, offering a diverse menu of wonderful cocktails and some of Maine's best craft beers. The place is littered with unique decorations and that doesn't change when you enter into the spacious and private bathroom. Those small "family" like portraits on the wall are worth a closer look. Just be careful not to spend TOO much time in there, someone might get worried.

The Bar of Chocolate

The Bar of Chocolate isn't as loud or in your face as its Wharf Street neighbors, but it's still a Portland favorite for its downright delectable martini menu. It's also a favorite for its bathrooms, which have the feel of somebody's Aunt's house with its cozy decor. The two private stalls are the kind of comfort you can't really find anywhere else in that section of the Old Port.

Maps

Maps is one of Portland's underground secrets, a beer and wine bar that spins classic vinyl while you're mesmerized by the LITERAL tens of maps all over the walls and ceiling. But Maps also provides a private stall that is completely unique. The bathroom itself feels like it's out of a bed & breakfast, and it comes with a change of clothes in the dresser right next to the toilet! (that's a decoration, please don't wear it)

Rhum

Rhum is Portland's only tiki bar that only has Portland's most unique "sink" for your hand washing pleasure. The bathroom itself has some funky elements to it, but it's that odd feeling of washing your hands over rocks while at a bar in the Old Port that puts Rhum onto this list. Go ahead and try it.

The Armory Bar at The Regency

The Armory has the built-in advantage of being located in an upscale hotel, so the bathrooms are probably going to better than your average place. The best part about the Armory's bathrooms is that are tucked away OUT of the bar, meaning your business is your own when you need to make a trip to the restroom.
