Portland is awesome, but parking can be a challenge.

Covid was awful, but there was one awesome thing. You could always find a parking spot in Portland, Maine. We are getting into tourist season where finding a parking spot in Portland will be your hardest task. Nothing bums me out more than finding a car that can't quite figure out how to park at that rare free meter. It's pretty universal so this information will be handy for all metered parking. This car is not doing it right. And could get two tickets!

From the City of Jacksonville, Florida Office of Public Parking,

(b) When a parking space in a parking meter zone, whether marked by lines or not, is parallel with or diagonal to the adjacent curb or sidewalk, a vehicle shall be parked in the space so that the foremost part of the vehicle shall be nearest to the parking meter and it shall be unlawful to park a vehicle in the parking space in any other manner.

Put your front bumper right behind the parking meter, and then that is YOUR meter that you have to either put money in or grab the Passport Parking app.

It is a rare day I see a car parked where the meter is in the middle of the car, but it is quite often that I see a good chunk of the front car parked passed the meter.

Gang, we all need to work together to maximize the limited parking in Portland. Think of the meter as a line and don't cross it. It's just as infuriating as lousy parking in a lot with lines. Okay...let's make this summer as parking friendly in Portland as possible! Now...go try and find an open spot!
