If you've never been to Home Depot before, it is a construction and building supply store. They sell windows, doors, nails, paint, refrigerators, and pretty much anything you'd need to build an entire house if you were so inclined. When walking into Home Depot, you are pretty set on what you need.

I am in there a lot lately because we are renovating the house we just bought, so I notice many homeowners, builders, and contractors wearing paint-stained clothes and steal-toed boots walking with absolute purpose towards the specific items they need or were tasked to find. So when you walk into this store, you don't realize you're going to meet a memorable artist behind the counter.

You walk in for a bucket of paint and instead become elucidated and the one-time, average plan for your house turns into something remarkably extraordinary! This is all because of Athena.

Meet Athena, she is the Paint Master at my local Home Depot and she has decided to create illuminating and inspiring crafts out of some discarded items from the store to spread cheer to all who simply need a bucket of paint! If you walk by the paint department you will notice all of the innovative and clever pieces she has strung around her section of the store.

For example, she takes an old mop head, discarded apron, and some kind of styrofoam ball and turned it into a bearded elf man treasure! You can't help but smile when you look at him.

When I first met her I instantly knew I needed her in my life. She knows so much about paint! We almost painted our bedroom with high glossy paint and I learned that's a serious no-no. But lucky for us, we were blessed with Athena.

We got to talking one day while she was fidgeting with papers and I stopped our conversation about paint to inquire what the heck she was doing. She told us it was a slow day so she decided to, create. She formed a captivating snowflake out of what looked like a window receipt or instruction manual!

What is so beautiful about this is that when Athena is idle or bored, she decides to fill up her time doing something creative and that is probably why she is such a happy person.

She serves her soul with inventiveness and ideation. It's a simple concept really, to take the trash and turn it into treasure, but, her outcomes are far from simple, they're charming and heartwarming.

Athena was able to share her reason for doing this and that's simply to make people happy. When she's not creating at work, she's creating at home! She one day hopes to sell her art to help keep those Mainer's smiles nice and bright!

I am sure we will see more from Athena. We appreciate the paint and inspiration girlfriend!
