How Much Does it Cost to Raise a Kid?
Ahhh kids. They are cute, loving and super expensive! Just to let you know, the price went up.
A middle-income, married couple with two children is estimated to spend $233,610 to raise a child born in 2015, according to a report released by the Department of Agriculture Monday.
$233,610
And that number only covers costs from birth through age 17 -- so it doesn't include college.
Housing was the biggest expense with food coming in second. Child care was also a big chunk of change. And as an added bonus, this from CNN's Money:
By region, families in the urban Northeast face the highest child-rearing tab with an average of $253,770, followed by the urban West at $235,140. Those living in rural areas throughout the country pay the least, at an average of $193,020, according to the government.
Great. It's actually OVER a quarter of a million dollars because we are in the Northeast! Although, truly Maine is not all that urban...
Sure Junior is cute, but maybe he can start mowing lawns or something...
