Snapchat released an update yesterday with wild new filters and effects. These aren't your standard lighting or color changes. The new effects alter the look of your face in video and photos. Lori has never used Snapchat before, so I made her test out the new effects with me live on-air.

How to Use the New Snapchat Effects

  1. Open Snapchat and put it in selfie mode.
  2. Before taking a photo or video, tap and hold on your face.
  3. The app will scan and map your face. Effects will appear at the bottom of the screen.
  4. Select an effect. The effect will prompt you to either raise your eyebrows or open your mouth.
  5. Use the capture button to take a photo or video, just like a regular Snapchat.

People have mixed feelings about this app. Snapchat allows users to send photos that disappear (well, kind of) after a predetermined amount of time. Do you think the app is all fun and games or are you worried about the possible misuse of the photo/video sending feature?
