A Maine family experienced an unexpected act of kindness on Christmas Eve when a stranger delivered a bag of gifts to their home in Gardiner and disappeared without explanation. The moment, which Shana Philbrook later described as deeply moving, has left the family both grateful and curious about the identity of the giver.

According to WMTW, Shana Philbrook was outside her home when a woman approached carrying a bag filled with wrapped presents. When Philbrook asked who she was looking for, the woman offered no explanation. Instead, she said “Merry Christmas,” left the bag near the basement entrance, and ran back to a waiting vehicle before driving away.

When the family brought the bag inside and opened it, they discovered multiple gifts labeled simply “boy” or “girl,” each signed from “God’s Angel.” According to Philbrook, the gesture was completely unexpected and emotionally overwhelming. She described it as “a beautiful blessing no one was expecting,” emphasizing how meaningful the surprise was for her family.

Philbrook and her husband, who owns Philbrook & Sons Construction, say they have no idea why their family was chosen. Despite the mystery, the focus for them is not on answers, but gratitude. According to Philbrook, their biggest wish is to be able to thank the woman who went out of her way to spread kindness during the holiday season.

Stories like this highlight how anonymous generosity can have a lasting impact. Even without knowing the giver, the Philbrook family says the experience has reinforced their belief in compassion, community, and the power of simple acts of goodwill.
