We've all watched that hilarious moment in Bridesmaids where the bride ends up pooping in the middle of the road.

It made me wonder, not about the legality of pooping in the middle of the road (which is obviously super dangerous), but what about pulling over, walking to the roadside with some toilet paper, and letting nature flow?

Is that okay?

Please refresh your memory on the hilarity of Bridesmaids moment below, while I research the legality.

Can you legally drop a deuce on the side of the road?

According to Maine legislature,

It is unlawful for any person to intentionally urinate or defecate in a public place, other than a washroom or toilet room, where such act could be observed by any member of the public.

Many of us probably assumed that relieving yourself in public is illegal or comes with hefty fines if you get caught.

But since we live in Maine and many of us enjoy camping and outdoor activities, it's reasonable to think that Maine law might have a small loophole for your poophole.

You know those moments when you're traveling on the road, and nature calls you on speed dial with such an urgency you cannot wait? Many times, us human beings simply cannot control our bodily functions. In that case, it could be possible, in my opinion, that a judge would sympathize if you had to dash into the bushes for an emergency pit stop. However, that doesn't mean you won't end up with a hefty fine if you're caught in the act!
