
100+ People Jump Into Icy Maine Lake for an Incredible Cause
One brave soul after enough kept into the icy cold waters of Maranacook Lake all to support Special Olympics Maine, according to News Center Maine.
The annual Special Olympics Maine Ice Out Plunge brought more then 100 brave people to take the plunge this past weekend.
This event brought supporters, local athletes, law enforcement all excited to trade in warm clothes for icy water in an attempt to raise money.
It’s always fun to watch the posts online each year showing officers jumping in, the faces the Maine, the bravery, and the fun had.
So many cheers, laughter, and plenty of shivering smiles is what you can expect.

Even though the water was cold, the energy is always palpably warm at this event. And why do they do this? To celebrate the courage of the participants and the mission behind the ice plunge.
How Much Did Special Olympics Polar Plunge Maine Raise 2026?
By the end of the event, these wonderful participants had raised more than $40,000, according to News Center Maine, helping support year-round sports training and competitions for athletes with intellectual disabilities across Maine.
This plunge is one of there most exciting fundraisers, and it each year it grows.

The brave jumpers said the freezing temperatures are a small price to pay when it means helping athletes gain confidence, build friendships, and experience the joy of competition.
There was cold water but even warmer hearts all to help Special Olympics Maine. And if this year’s turnout is any indication, the tradition will continue making icy waves for years to come.
