New Hampshire Business Featured in the Kristen Bell Coupon Movie ‘Queenpins’

Don't you just get a kick out of seeing New England references in the movies?

Several movies have filmed in places like New Hampshire and Maine, and many times, they can be the locations for the flicks.

So I nearly jumped with excitement when I saw a New Hampshire-based company in the movie Queenpins.

What is Queenpins?

Queenpins is a movie starring Kristen Bell based on a real-life story involving a housewife and a multi-million dollar coupon scam.

Rotten Tomatoes lists the synopsis here:

Inspired by a true story, QUEENPINS is an outrageous comedy about a bored and frustrated suburban homemaker, Connie (Kristen Bell) and her best pal JoJo (Kirby Howell-Baptiste), a vlogger with dreams, who turn a hobby into a multi-million dollar counterfeit coupon caper. After firing off a letter to the conglomerate behind a box of cereal gone stale, and receiving an apology along with dozens of freebies, the duo hatch an illegal coupon club scheme that scams millions from mega-corporations and delivers deals to legions of fellow coupon clippers. On the trail to total coupon dominance, a hapless Loss Prevention Officer (Paul Walter Hauser) from the local supermarket chain joins forces with a determined U.S. Postal Inspector (Vince Vaughn) in hot pursuit of these newly-minted "Queenpins" of pink collar crime.

If you're streaming it or watching it at home, at 52 minutes and 22 seconds in, you'll see Sig Sauer's banner. You can clearly see the logo.

The shot goes on for a few seconds, too, not just 1/2 second and it's gone.

The characters in the movie are looking to buy some guns in cash to launder the money they've made from coupons.  So they go to what looks like a farmers market, only instead of fresh carrots and tomatoes, they are selling guns.

But yup, clear as day, that's Sig Sauer. The firearms company was founded in Epping, New Hampshire, according to its website.

Product Placement Isn't New

This isn't the only time that I've seen Sig Sauer's logo in movies and in TV shows.  It's called product placement, and you will see all kinds of companies everywhere on TV and in the movies.

Think about what the judges drink on American Idol (Coke) or remember what logo the equipment had emblazoned upon it on The Biggest Loser (New Hampshire's own Planet Fitness).

It's been happening since the beginning of TV.  Soap operas got their name because laundry detergent was their sponsor, and they did "live" commercials.

Queenpins Cast is Fabulous

If you have some free time on your hands, check out Queenpins, currently on Netflix.  It's definitely worth your time for the cast alone: Kristen Bell, Vince Vaughn, Kirby Howell-Baptiste, (who is British and you'd never know it), and best of all, Paul Walter Hauser, who was in Black Bird, another incredible mini-series also about a true story.
