Watch as Maine’s Most Famous Seagull Jerry Makes a Special Appearance

Seeing Jerry on the Lucky Catch lobster boat out of Portland, Maine was the best thing ever.

Lucky Catch is a super fun excursion on the waters of Casco Bay. You get a peek at what the life of a Maine Lobsterman is like. Plus, you get to participate in hauling up traps, measuring lobsters, and setting them free! It's just a beautiful 80-90 minute cruise that can include Portland Head Light, historic Civil War forts, and the 'Seal Rocks'.

Who is Jerry the Seagull in Portland, Maine?

Jerry is a seagull who has made friends with Brian of Lucky Catch. He's one of the captains and teachers on the lobster cruise. Brian says that Jerry has been following his boat for about five years. This is Brian.

That is a valid question that I also asked. Brian said it's the same way you can tell the difference between twins (since seagulls do look alike). It's personality. Plus, since Jerry has been following Brian for five years - he knows Jerry very well. Jerry loves to visit to get his Goldfish crackers. How famous is Jerry? Well, he's got his own Instagram page!

This made my whole year! I've been hearing about Jerry the famous Lucky Catch seagull for years! How? Because Brian's stepmother is a good friend of mine. She's met Jerry and is writing a children's book about him! He's a Portland legend who will soon be immortalized in print.
