Just a couple years ago, one of the fastest growing chain restaurants in America, Jersey Mike's, had a grand total of zero locations in Maine. Fast forward to now, and Jersey Mike's aggressive expansion into Vacationland is continuing at a rapid pace. The sandwich chain already has 3 operational locations in Scarborough, Windham, and Brunswick. Jersey Mike's plans on opening an additional 4 locations soon, including their first in Portland.

Jersey Mike's confirmed their first Portland location in coming soon via their website. Despite having the address and city listed incorrectly, Jersey Mike's will be moving into the end cap of the Pine Tree Shopping Center in Portland just a couple doors down from Big Lots. That shopping center has seen a lot of different chapters in its existence and could use a popular quick service restaurant to enhance some regular traffic. While there isn't a firm opening date listed on the Jersey Mike's website, the signage for the new Portland location is in place, likely meaning an opening is right around the corner.

The Portland location of Jersey Mike's will have stiff competition as more fast casual options continue to open at the new Rock Row development located nearby. Rock Row already houses Chick-fil-A as well as Firehouse Subs. A new location of the burger chain Cowbell is set to open in the next few months as well.

Jersey Mike's is also set to open new locations in Topsham, Auburn, and Saco. Both the Topsham and Auburn locations appear to be on the fast track to opening. The Saco location may have to wait a little bit longer as a new plaza is constructed for both Jersey Mike's and Chipotle.
