Heartfelt Thank You to Maine's Lori & Jeff of the Q Morning Show

Friday, May 12, 2023, was the iconic Lori & Jeff's last day on air with Q97.9 before they make the switch to 94.9 WHOM. Jadd and I joined them for their final farewell, which had us all feeling every type of emotion. Switching call letters from a radio show you've built for 20-plus years is exciting, but it also comes with a lot of memories.

I knew this wasn't going to be an easy show for everyone involved, and I wasn't sure I was going to exactly be able to get my personal feelings out to them on air, so I wrote them a handwritten card:

Here's what it said:

Dear Lori & Jeff,
The two of you have created something extraordinarily special over the past 20-plus years on Q97.9. You've created one of the tightest bonds I've ever seen with your listeners and in return, they love you endlessly. The two of you deserve to be so proud today as you unplug from WJBQ and into WHOM. As radio personalities, we sometimes forget to take a step back and realize how truly rewarding this job really is, and the two of you deserve to feel every level of rewarded today.

There's not many places you can go in Maine without them knowing who you are. Them being the 10-year-old child you made feel important on your show. Them being the fighter of cancer and you trying to step in to help them. Them being an entire city you've shared emotion with on these airwaves that started on WJBQ and will now continue on WHOM.

So thank you. Thank you for handing off your mic to me as I start my own journey with the awesome fans of WJBQ. You've been so lovely to me since I got here, and I'll never forget that. Continue being great, and I promise I will make you proud over there.
