Luchador Tacos, the popular East LA style Mexican restaurant that started as a take-out stand in South Paris, is opening its third location on Friday, June 25 in Windham.

Lucahdor is owned by Katherine Mitchell who moved to Maine from Los Angeles and opened up a small stand in South Paris across from the Oxford County Courthouse, preparing tacos and burritos like you'd find back in LA. It was a huge success and Luchador moved into its own building on Nichols Street in South Paris, which was the former home of "The Corner Store" a small, locally-owned convenience store. Later still, Lucador moved across town to Twin Town Plaza with even more space. But the growth didn't stop there.

In June of 2019 a second location in North Conway was opened, and now a third is set to open on Roosevelt Trail in North Windham in the former location of the Bomb Diggidy Cafe.

If you're curious about the name "Luchador," like I was, the answer is in their logo. It features a masked wrestler, also known as a luchador in "Lucha libre," the term used in Mexico for professional wrestling.

I grew up in South Paris, but never got a chance to visit Lucahdor's when I visited family, but now that they are opening where I live in Windham, I will definitely be stopping by for a taco, burrito AND a churro. I can worry about the diet later.

Luchador Tacos Windham Location opens its doors for the first time on Friday, June 25 at 10:30 a.m.
