Maine Is Home to a ‘Hobbitland,’ and It’s Absolutely Enchanting
Perhaps you've watched the film adaption of J.R.R. Tolkien's "The Lord of the Rings" and wished that you could spend a few whimsical moments in 'The Shire' with all of the wonderful hobbits.
Or maybe you just watched the trailer for the new Amazon "Lord of the Rings" series that dropped during the Super Bowl:
While we all know hobbits are simply a work of fiction, the incredible place they called home is rooted in reality. There's a small town in Maine that is home to a place that will bring you as close to 'The Shire' as you may ever get.
It's called Vaughan Woods and Historic Homestead in Hallowell, and it's Maine's very own version of a natural "Hobbitland."
It's seriously a place that feels ripped straight for the pages of a book or scenes from a movie. The pathways and the stone bridges and the lush greenery that nature offers is at all turns for you to experience.
So whether you can't wait for the new TV series or just want to jump into a world that feels like Middle Earth, there's a place close by where you can experience it in real life.
