Maine Pub Discounts Your Meal if You Lock Your Phone Away
King Eider’s Pub in Damariscotta as a special discount on Sundays and Tuesdays if you eat without your phone.
The Portland Press Herald reports that it's a called the Disconnect and Reconnect Challenge. Every Tuesday and Sunday between 4 and 9 p.m., King Elder's Pub says that if you lock your phones away, you get at least 10% off your check!
If you are up to the challenge, the server will put all the tables cell phones in a take-out container and tape it shut. If you break the seal, no deal. But if you can do it, you save some bucks. It's a sliding scale too! A couple can save 10%, but if you have a large group of 10 or more, you could save 30% off the tab. You've got until April 28th to take advantage of the deal.
The owner says it's to hopefully promote actually talking and engaging with your dinner guests.
They have a poster inside that says,
Just Pretend It’s 1995.
So, could you do it?
