There's really no science behind it (that we know of, anyway.) But for some reason, cheesecake has always been seen by most as a next-level dessert. Hell, it's so elite that The Cheesecake Factory became a franchise because of it.

Maine locations for The Cheesecake Factory

There's an upside and downside to what we're about to say next: There are no locations at all in Maine for The Cheesecake Factory. In fact, there aren't even any in New Hampshire, either.

According to the official website The Cheesecake Factory, the closest locations to either the 603 or the 207 are four locations in Massachusetts -- the North Shore Mall in Peabody, the Burlington Mall in Burlington, the CambridgeSide Galleria in Cambridge, and inside the Prudential Center in Boston.

Portland, Maine Cheesecake Places

So the downside is obvious, but what's the upside to there being no Maine locations of The Cheesecake Factory? Mainers are all about shopping local, so it's guaranteed that we'll be buying and eating local when it comes to cheesecake.

Speaking of which, recently in the Portland, Maine group on Facebook, the cheesecake craving hit Chalis Lyn (that and she wants to be a hero at her Christmas celebration.)

Wondering who makes the best cheesecake in Portland? Looking for a good dessert for Christmas.

As always with Mainers, ask and you shall receive.
