Mt. Major in NH Appears Busier Than Ever Despite Pandemic
This is why we can't have nice things.
This is why aliens won't visit us.
Yes, we are encouraged to stay home if at all possible. Yes, we are also permitted to enjoy the beautiful New England outdoors. However, this does not mean go to places in droves. That's why beaches in southern Maine closed. That's why Acadia is closed.
Mount Major, located in Alton, New Hampshire is known for beautiful hiking trails. During the spring and summer months, it's popular for locals and tourists alike.
Today a video caught my eye. Jennifer Fielders shared the video while driving by Mt. Major. I was stunned, shocked, and quite frankly, disgusted.
Cars upon cars lined up on both sides of the road bumper to bumper and what appears to be a full parking lot.
Although difficult to confirm from the video, commenters on the video who are in the area say that most of the vehicles appear to have out of state license plates.
I'm truly at a loss. Sure, people are outside, in the fresh air, but I can't fathom how people are adhering to the 6-foot rule. I've never been on these trails so maybe I'm wrong maybe the area is so vast that it can safely house all these people. I truly hope to God I'm wrong.
Please be smart. Walk around your neighborhood. Have the kids play in the yard. Visit a less populated landmark.
The risk of dozens of people from dozens of different areas flocking to the same spot is precisely what we DON'T need right now.
