Dave Eid Book Tells the Story of How Maine Sports Survived the Pandemic

If you've never met WGME 13's Dave Eid in person, I can tell you that he's about the nicest guy you could ever come across. He has been with WGME for over 28 years reporting on local sports and is currently the Sports Director.

Dave teamed up with Gary Stevens who has as long a history as Dave in sports as an athletic administrator for 27 years and currently serves Thornton Academy. If that weren't enough, also serves as an adjunct professor of Sport and Exercise Science at Saint Joseph’s College of Maine.

These two know their sports and have teamed up to write a book called Stolen Seasons - How Maine Sports Survived the COVID-19 Pandemic.

The COVID-19 pandemic changed the world affecting just about every part of our lives, including sports on all levels. It was a huge blow to sports, especially for school sports where entire sports seasons didn't even happen. Kids learned from home over Zoom and the fields and courts remained empty.

It affected professional sports as well with the Portland Sea Dogs and Maine Mariners unable to play. Play resumed once the pandemic subsided, but at what cost?
