A restaurant in Windham that has seen several different restaurants come and go is about to be the home of Lake House Tavern.

For over six decades, the building at the corner of White's Bridge Road and Route 302 in North Windham has been home to Kilgore's, Red Sands, Casa Novella, Thatcher's, and Franco's Bistro, which recently closed when the owner retired.

A photo by Brian Hannon showed up in the Windham Maine Community Board Facebook group, showing a banner on the building announcing that Lake House Tavern is coming soon.

That sign sparked all sorts of questions, with many people not realizing Franco's Bistro had closed.

Brian was asked if he was the owner, to which he said no, but he is friends with him. Another person asked if Lake House Tavern is owned by the same people who own Lake House Tavern in Hopkinton, New Hampshire, to which he said no. The question on everyone's mind was, "Is there an ETA on Lake House Tavern opening?" Brian said that "(It's) moving quickly but don’t have a date set yet, hoping for soonish."

As for the name, the restaurant is located between Little and Big Sebago lakes, so it's safe to assume that that's where the name comes from.

That's all we know for now, but we'll keep you posted if we learn more. And if you're in the area, keep an eye out for the grand opening of Lake House Tavern soon.
