Nearly two years ago, the City of Portland gave the ok for a new hotel to be constructed at the corner of Commercial Street and Center Street in the Old Port. One of the highlights of that proposed hotel was going to be a rooftop bar that would situated to overlook the waterfront. After breaking ground in October 2019, the vision of Canopy Portland Waterfront is set to come to life this May.

Shared on Instagram, what you're looking at is Luna, the 6th floor indoor/outdoor bar that is set to open at Canopy Waterfront. According to Portland Food Map, the new rooftop bar will have capacity for 88 people (without any enduring pandemic restrictions) and plans to serve a menu of classic and craft cocktails that fit Portland's vibe. There will also be small plates of food available to share amongst friends.

Luna won't be the only new business opening inside Canopy Portland Waterfront, there will also be a restaurant and espresso bar on the street level called Salt Yard. The restaurant portion plans to serve breakfast, lunch and dinner with a menu centered around classic favorites. Salt Yard will feature an open-fire oven, and their specialty dishes will be centered around that. The espresso bar will feature coffee from local favorite Rwanda Bean with some of the breakfast offerings pairing well with specific coffee drinks.

There's no official grand opening date for Canopy Portland Waterfront, Luna or Salt Yard yet but the plan remains to open the doors sometime in May.
