With summer just weeks away, ok maybe months, kinda feels like it will never get here but it will, it's time to start thinking about sun, sand and the best beach in Maine.

Yesterday TripAdvisor, the world's largest travel site, announced the winners of its Travelers' Choice awards for Beaches. For the second year in a row, Florida's Clearwater Beach is named the number one beach in America.

Of the 25 best beaches in the U.S., 40 percent are in Florida and almost 30 percent are in Hawaii. In fact, both states dominated the top 10 having 9 beaches win. Florida and Hawaii are mentioned a handful times more in the top 25 list. Award winners were determined based on the quantity and quality of traveler reviews and ratings for beaches on TripAdvisor, gathered over a one year period.

With all the beaches in Maine you'd think we would have made the list more than once. No such luck this year as TripAdvisor has named Ogunquit Beach one of the top 25 beaches in America.

Coming in at number 18, Ogunquit Beach is described as "Perfect beach to walk as far along as you want - sand, sea, sunshine and a cooling breeze! Up to three miles of clean sand, shallow water, no rocks, beautiful waves, not to mention all the inviting restaurants along the way. Best place to unwind and catch up on life."
