I really feel like this is basic knowledge and that I shouldn't have to remind you how important crosswalks are, but here we are. Now before you walk away (pun intended) hear me out, because I nearly had a heart attack on US-1 today.

Let me start off by saying I am a walker myself, it is great to go outside, especially on a nice day like today. However, it does not matter if you are a road worker or just a regular walker, you most definitely should not just walk across a major road unless you are using a crosswalk.

Okay, let me tell you about what happened today. It was like any other day and I was driving home from work on US-1 (which if you do not know, can be a very busy road). Well, there I was driving along when SOMEONE thought that it was a good idea to cross the road. I saw them standing in the middle of the street so, of course, I stopped far enough back to let them finish crossing safely.

There I was stopped, waiting for them to cross, and I was waving them to finish crossing. The person just stood there. Then I noticed that the individual was waving for me to go, so I finally started to drive again (maybe they wanted to just stand in the middle of the road).

Well, as I started to drive again and got closer, the individual started to continue walking across the street. In case you are wondering no one was hurt on my drive home today, I slammed on my breaks yet again.

Please, please, please do not be like this person. Do NOT cross dangerous roads no matter the time of day. If you really want to cross the street, just walk to the nearest crosswalk and then cross.
