Police Looking for 35-Foot Camper That Was Hauled Away by a Thief in Poland, Maine
This is a bold move by someone who wanted a camper. The Androscoggin County Sheriff's Department is seeking information about a camper stolen on Mechanic Falls Road in Poland, Maine.
Maine is one of the best places to go camping in the country. When I was a kid, my family would spend our summers at Winslow Memorial Park in Freeport, right on the ocean. As an adult, I camped with my son on the lake at Keoka Beach Campground in Harrison. It all came full circle and a lot of memories were made over the summers between those two campgrounds.
This is me at Winslow Park when I was about four.
The only problem with owning a camper in Maine is that you only get to use it for about four to five months out of the year. Some do camp in the winter as well, but most people either leave their campers at the campground (if they are seasonal campers), or haul them home for the winter.
In all the years we hauled our camper home when I was growing up, no one ever stole it. I never would have thought anyone would go so far as to steal a camper, but someone did. They backed up to the 35-foot Palomino Solaire sitting on Mechanic Falls Road, hooked on, and hauled that sweet camper away to who knows where.
The Androscoggin County Sheriff's Office says the trailer registration is C272889. It was stolen sometime between Sunday and Monday, and was full of the owner's personal property.
If you have any information about this stolen camper, contact Deputy Pinkham at (207) 753-2599 or email cpinkham@androscoggincountymaine.gov. Let's get this camper back to its rightful owner.
