Portland Beer Week Ain’t Over Yet, Folks
Election Day is behind us and while you may have been a bit distracted during the start of this week, it's time to pull yourself up by your bootstraps and drink yourself to the finish line. It's Beer Week in Portland, a city who tops the charts for the highest rate of microbreweries per capita of any city in the country, according to Smartasset. Suffice it to say, Portland Maine is the place to celebrate local beer and there's no shortage of events to hit up as you round out your politics-filled week.
Ever wanted to go straight from coffee time to happy hour? The Maine Brew Bus crew will bring you to coffee, donuts and beer as they cart you from Bard Coffee to the Holy Donut to Gritty McDuff’s. Take the tour and taste it all for yourself!
Anytime between 5 and 9pm, head to Terlingua's neck of the woods to enjoy Austin Street favorites paired with chef barbecue picks at their 3rd Annual Collaborative Portland Beer Week dinner!
And if you're someone who cherishes a good face twitch, you'll be in good company at the Great Lost Bear! Enjoy the selection of every single Maine-brewed IPA that will fit on the tap lines along with special deals from 5-9 pm!
Fancy a sample from our brothers across the pond? Foulmouthed Brewing has you covered with Brits and Chips, featuring authentic English cask beer and their chef’s favorite scrumptious pub food, perfect for the esteemed anglophile.
Meanwhile, Vacationland Distributors and Chaval will allow you to dig into your roots with their full-on tour of New England in the form of some of our region’s most delicious beers, including beer pairings for the night.
Time to get a little exercise, eh? Grab some friends and go curling! The Maine Brew Bus and Pine Tree Curling Club have teamed up to bring you their Curling and Brew Tour! Buy a ticket, meet at the William B. Troubh Ice Arena to try your hand at curling (lesson included), then head off to visit two different breweries in the Greater Portland Area. Be sure to wear tennis shoes and bring your balance for walking on ice!
If sitting still and sipping sour is more your speed, hit up The Great Lost Bear with a selection of tasty sour Maine beers all day and night! Beware - your tongue may have shriveled come Saturday morning.
By now, you might need a bit of recovery. Stumble your way over to The Thirsty Pig for the UK Brewers' Brunch. The Mini Bar will be serving up some tasty beverages on the back deck while bartenders inside will be pouring delicious brews from our friends across the pond.
For a look inside the craftsmanship, passion, and innovation within the beer industry (and a break from guzzling pints), take a look at the premiere of Douglas Tirola’s BREWMASTER from 7-10 pm at Space Gallery.
Finally, end your day at Howie's Pub with KaraOh-J, where the Lone Pine staff will be hosting karaoke and their smooth-as-silk beers. Their famous Oh-J IPA will be on draft, while Portland Pale Ale and Brightside IPA will be in cans. Be sure to bring cash, and as always (but especially during Portland Beer Week): DRINK RESPONSIBLY. Have fun!
