Portland ‘Food for Thought’ Tour Offers Unique Local Cuisine, Knowledge
For a town dubbed 'foodie heaven' by every other tourist magazine, it's no surprise there's a number of food tours available for anyone looking to explore our many impressive eateries.
A very special tour, Maine Food for Thought, features locally created entrees with a side dish of back story KNOWLEDGE. Their website describes the experience perfectly:
On this tasting tour in Portland's historic Old Port, you'll deepen your understanding of the farmers, fishermen, foragers, and purveyors who fill our plates, and learn about efforts to ensure a sustainable future for Maine's vibrant food scene.
Their first stop is UNION Restaurant located inside Press Hotel with this scrumptious chowder above. For $72 per person you get a 3-hour tour of a healthy handful of Portland hot spots. These are places that you'd ordinarily need to have a reservation or wait a long-ass time to spend a lot more money, one by one over a decade or so. Perusing their facebook posts and reviews cinched it: this tour is next on my to-do list. What about you?
